Video Game Music

As I may have mentioned earlier, I'm a fan of video games largely due to my two brothers. I enjoy the problem solving that goes into playing games, and the camaraderie it builds between myself and my brothers and now nieces and nephews. But one of my favorite things about video games is the music.

If you've played Ocarina of Time, you will definitely recognize this orchestrated version of the Gerudo Valley theme. If you haven't played Ocarina of Time, you should. Or at least listen to the music.

The people who write the scores for these games are seriously talented. I have several piano and guitar books that are versions of the songs and they are usually quite intricate and ingenious, not to mention really fun to play and listen to. I don't think these composers get the acclaim they deserve!

This video is from one of the games with the best music out of any of them, plus you get the cool (but now outdated animation) opening sequence. My brothers and I used to watch this over and over. :)

Okay, one more. This song is featured in several different Final Fantasy games and it never fails to make me laugh. Plus, chocobos are cute.

  1. Haha, I LOVE the chocobo theme! It really is so pleasant! I was a big fan of Final Fantasy VII and IX!

  2. Well, I didn't recognize any of these songs (I don't play video games) but my husband did! And I agree video game music can be so fun to listen to.
