T-Shirts and the Deal-A-Day Internet Phenomenon

I have discovered an interesting thing that the internet makes possible. There are several websites like Teefury.com, Riptapparel.com, and Shirt.woot.com that sell one t-shirt a day. The designs are usually submitted by independent artists and often border on copyright infringement since the sites aren't affiliated with Doctor Who or Firefly or several other cult obsessions they often feature.

So far I've bought 5 t-shirts from these websites, and they are my favorite to wear because if someone recognizes the often obscure reference we share a bonding moment. And I feel great, possibly sadistic, pleasure in telling people they can't get a shirt just like mine because the website doesn't sell it anymore.

But it goes both ways. If you don't check everyday, you can miss some gems, which is pretty genius advertising. And they totally tease you with a "graveyard" of past designs. Here are a couple of my favorites I was sad to miss:
 Link is SO CUTE.

The title of this design is "The Chosen One." Hahahahaha!

Video Game Music

As I may have mentioned earlier, I'm a fan of video games largely due to my two brothers. I enjoy the problem solving that goes into playing games, and the camaraderie it builds between myself and my brothers and now nieces and nephews. But one of my favorite things about video games is the music.

If you've played Ocarina of Time, you will definitely recognize this orchestrated version of the Gerudo Valley theme. If you haven't played Ocarina of Time, you should. Or at least listen to the music.

The people who write the scores for these games are seriously talented. I have several piano and guitar books that are versions of the songs and they are usually quite intricate and ingenious, not to mention really fun to play and listen to. I don't think these composers get the acclaim they deserve!

This video is from one of the games with the best music out of any of them, plus you get the cool (but now outdated animation) opening sequence. My brothers and I used to watch this over and over. :)

Okay, one more. This song is featured in several different Final Fantasy games and it never fails to make me laugh. Plus, chocobos are cute.

Good Work, Chef Boyardee

My friend and I kept seeing the Chef Boyardee commercial on Hulu so we bought some ravioli and ate it. The power of advertising!

In other news, this was just about the lamest post ever.

I Might Never Watch Bones Again

I think my desensitization is waning. I used to be able to watch Bones, and did ALL the time, without getting too creeped/grossed out. But the other night I watched the mid-season finale for the current season after not watching the show for months and I was really disturbed, to the point where I couldn't sleep that night. I guess it's a good thing that serial killers disturb me, but apparently I can't handle that show anymore. At least not if there are going to be more episodes like that one!

And also, I think they've taken the characters about as far as they can go. Things have sort of stagnated on that show, which is really unfortunate because the characters are why I keep coming back.
